The Helen Foundation: a new arts charity for Teignbridge
The Helen Foundation was launched in early 2006 as a living memorial to Helen Kirk, a Shaldon girl and a former Carnival Queen, who tragically died after a road accident on Boxing Day, 2005.
A registered charity, The Foundation supports the artistic aspirations of young people, especially those lacking financial support, within Teignbridge.
By providing awards in schools, arts-based workshops and bursaries the Foundation encourages and supports other young people to pursue their ambitions as Helen was able to.
